maybe the tablebases are not that far fetched . maybe opening tablebases do not
have to lead to a direct mate just a decent advantage . i did an experiment with
hiarcs 7.32 and a radio shack chess computer . and it turns out that the radio
shack computer once it had an advantage of greater than 1.50 it would win 48
games out of 50 .so if a real good opening positions database could be developed
a 386 could be stronger than DB plus who knows what brilliant seach stategies
are still left undiscovered .i think one thing that holds programmers back is
they want to make a program so human like style .maybe that will not be the best
style when all is known ? plus programmers are not prone to original ideas ,
lack imagination and creativeness .
