My experience is that the analysis window is only updated after each candidate move is calculated. For example if there are 30 candidate moves, it will get updated 30 times during the calculation for each ply. If a particular candidate move causes it to calculate longer, then the analysis windows is not updated in the interim. If you watch it for a long time, at higher ply depths it will slow down to being updated only every hour or so, then eventually not at all. So I don't believe what you are describing is a "bug", just a design flaw.
