Crafty might. DIEP is different case. DIEP hardly gets 10 ply. not to mention 12-14 ply. If you get in blitz 6 or 7 ply, then you lose to a beginner, because he can tactical trick you. When getting like 10 ply i'm sure we don't complain anymore about being some faster or slower. Yet getting in a crucial position 6 ply will completely give away the game, which makes the difference then very big.
