The cultural gaps between us are tremendous.
we all have internet and we almost all live in year 2000 soon,
but cultural gaps stop us from doing many many misunderstandings.

As a european person e.g. i like heavy fights, full of tough and
rude words, like it is done here in germany.
i always wonder when an american takes these my words personal.
i have found out that other europeans have made the same
experience so i think it has to do with cultural experience.

whenever i talk with americans they very fast shoot back
taking it personal only because i am different opinion that they are.

in europe / germany it is NOT an attack if you tell you neighbour in
a discussion that you are different opinion.
there is no sympathy or antipathy if you tell somebody
that you are different opinion than he is.
it is just a comment. not something personal !
it is just a comment. and even if you use very "fresh" words it does
not say anything to the sympathy or antipathy towards this person,
only because you comment negatively on what he says.

I guess this has to do with the cultural history.
Americans have weapons. colts and machine-guns and that stuff.
so whenever somebody said something and they do not agree,
they shoot before they think.
maybe they are used to this kind of methods while fighting with indians.
better shoot before arguing. i don't know.
but we have different ways of SOLVING or HANDLING discussions.

in europe e.g. children do very often criticize their parents.
people are proud when their (hopefully strong) children
do NOT agree with their parents. even if you have guests and they
see this, people are proud and see it as a strength that their children
have their own minds and disagree with FATHER.
I guess almost NOBODY in germany woulds ask his children to say SIR
to dad. This was in the 19th century in europe.
I guess in america it is different. maybe because many european
from the 19th century travelled to us. maybe because they had to fight
for everything. whatever.

but we HAVE these cultural differences.
I think we should understand that many many problems we have here in this
newsgroup has to deal with cultural differences.

E.g. in europe people believe that the death-penalty is a barbarian
action against human-rights.
You cannot explain to europeans why americans bring children into prison
(e.g. a young brother who helped his sister).
there are cultural gaps. in actions and in discussions too.

We should accept that we all have different roots and
it is all very complicate.
