I have heard the AMD will sell a 750mhz machine very soon, and that the 800 and
900 will follow early next year.  I think Apple is in some trouble, since their
"real" G4's running at 500mhz won't be available till sometime next year.  For
chess programs, which are integer-based, the pc's will outperform the Macs for
the foreseeable future.

Having said that, the MacOS is far superior to Windows for general purpose use.
