Why are humans still boxing or wrestling when a person with a handgun could win. Why are they running races when a car or motorcycle can get there faster. Likewise, the human chess will go on regardless of what machines can do, just as swimmers don't quit training because a motor-boat can move faster on the water. But the computer chess will evolve into a genuine sports field of its own, with hudreds then thousands of programs playing year round among themselves on well regulated tournaments, championship matches, with new stars being born and eclipsed, with programmers playing a role analogue to race car drivers / designers. (Its present state is more like chess in Europe in 16th or 17th century, a proto-sport phase.)
