Hi Seth, ChessBase is a database program for chess games. It has all the functionality you would expect from a database program, including advanced search and storing possibilities. If you buy the program you also get a big (and clean) database with it of some 1,1 million games, which you can use for chechink opening repertoire, finding certain tactical interesing situations and so on. Furthermore you will get a lot of info on all players through the players encylopedia. You can keep a record of your own games, find out how you did by using an analysis engine, annotate (also multimedia) and look for certain patterns in your games. You could also do that for your personal Nemesis from the local chess club, study his/her games, and surprise him/her with the opening he/she's worst at. On http://www.chessbase.com you will find all info you want, and you can download a free trial version of the old CB 6 version, called CB light, to get an impression. Also you could weed through Steve Lopez' T-notes selecting the notes about ChessBase (7) to get an impression. ChessBase has also a site in USA, conveniently called http://www.chessbaseusa.com Good luck with the info hunt. Jeroen ;-}
