I can accept the European bishop and the Chinese cannon as logical
developments in the history of chess, but the queen is a Fairy Chesspiece.
Someone combined the powers of the rook and the bishop - to make the game
more interesting. Truth is: we are all playing Fairy Chess. I'm just
looking for a little more variety in my games.

I got my doctorate in mathematics way back when windows were used to let
in sunlight. My hobby time divides: 99% chess and 1% computers. Not
planning to write any programs in the near future.

Yours,
