Does Nimzo earn something from it?

Nimzo may earn memory in the harddisk from dropping knowledge of distance to
mate in part of the endgames and not removing endgame knowledge.

The memory you save in the main program by removing knowledge of 3-4 pieces is
very small.

I can understand removing knowledge if it help nimzo to become faster in other
positions but I do not think that it is the case because you can use a root
processor.
