If you're trying to write a chess program, there's no question that your skill
at programming is more important than your skill at playing chess.

But I disagree with Christophe (and he warned this would happen) - if you take
two equally talented programmers, the stronger chess player will produce a
better chess program more quickly.

I wonder about this.  My perception is that the characteristics of a good
programmer are very similar to those of a good chess player.  I personally know
a lot of good chess players who are software engineers...
