Lin,
I play at chess.net where lightning is from 0/1 to 2/1 and blitz from 2/2 to
10/0 (i think) so i don't know the ICC interface but i do notice most ratings at
chess.net are better at lightning than blitz. The most frustrating thing about
lightning is getting flagged in a completely won position yet that is the nature
of the game. I also note that gambits work better at lightning as they cause
opponents to think a little, try the kings gambit or benko they work for me. I
just avoid them in blitz. Another thing that works for me is making sure your
hands are completly dry, i use baby powder, make sure your mouse is clean and
smooth and that all screen options are set for optimum play, always be thinking
about what your opponent will play, check him as often as possible as checks
seem to cause him a time delay as likely when he has his piece ready it is not a
natural move. ex. 1. e4....c5 2. Nf3....d6 3. bb5+ this one always costs him
a second. The problem opening 1. e4 is d5 and if you are holding Nf3 then you
must change it, i myself prefer 2. e5 if 1.....d5 is played as they always
expect the exchange. All that being said i mostly play 1. d4 and hold 2. c4
ready as it can be played regardless of the response to d4. though 1....c4 can
be a pain.

Let me know if you can't get lightning rulez I can email it to you.
Thanks.
