Many thanks for this very interesting post Anatoli! Think I join you in
your opinions! Myself I had ranking about 2280 at age 19. Stopped playing
serious tournaments in my early 20th. Now for the last 20 years I,ve had
chess merely as hobby. Reading magazines, looking at games, playing just
for fun. Think I understand alot more now about chess but naturally very
much out of practice. When chess programs started to get better I was
interested. So this year I have played much with Fritz 5.32, Hiarcs 7.32,
ChessMaster 6000 and CS TAL. Enjoy playing rapidchess vs these programs.
Have just finished building a 925 MB opening book out of Powerbooks-99.
Sorry to hear about your opinion about the chess culture in Australia.
But they don't have the Russian/Ukranian tradition in chess-schools,
 training, organizing tournaments etc.

Wish you the best of luck downunder!
