Get one if you like the romance of real wooden pieces and a real board.  If you
really want to learn chess then don't.

You can play ten games on a monitor screen in the time it takes to set up pieces
on a real board.  In addition a computer board interface is just another thing
to go wrong.

I lived through the times when the Mephisto Vancouver deluxe stand-alone
computer cost $11,000.00  and I only spent $800.00 on the Fidelity Elite board.
It was fun.
