I believe that this is a naive viewpoint. I think you should compare style of
posts, content of posts, and location of ISP before making a judgement. I do not
think you should base this type of opinion on what the person claimed in a post.
People do lie you know.

That is because you are not Chris. You are not motivated in the same way, hence,
you do not understand his motivation. It's an ego thing. People cannot get
"caught" misbehaving on a message board like they can get caught misbehaving in
real life. Hence, some people feel invigorated by the power they can feel by
"getting away with things" and at the same time know that the most that will
happen here is that they will get banned. It's not as if they cannot sneak back
in. In real life, if you go to your country club and punch out the manager, you
will never get back in. Here, you can rant and rave all you want and the worse
that can happen is that you have to create a new username and password. In real
life, if you call someone a (bad word deleted here) in a bar, you might get your
own lights punched out. Here, you are safe. Here, that cannot happen.

It's all about ego, maturity, and comfort zone. People can do things here that
they would never dream of doing face to face with someone. Unfortunately, good
programmers are not immune to these types of things since they are human too.
Intelligence has never been a good substitute for common sense. They are two
different things.
