I have some real good reasons for keeping my program as privateware: I have a very limited time for my chess programming. I love to sit down now and then and make improvements (sometimes!), test it against other programs and try to improve it again. That's how I want to spent that limited time. 1) I don't want to spoil my time on justifying my style of programming or choise of methods or somemthing else. After having read all weird accusation that Bob Hyatt have been exposed to and all the time and energy that he had to spent on that, I decided to not go the freeware line. 2) I don't want to spoil my time on helping users to operate the program and what different commands are meaning and certainly not trying to find out what kind of problems all sorts of hardware and compilers out there are causing. Of cource I could just igonore all questions but that's not my style of behaviour... 3) I can always give away the program to friends and people I rely on. The drawback with this attitude is the lack of feedback from people finding bugs and positions where the program turns out unsuccessful. I have to find all things myself. Well, i can live with that! //Peter
