Because Don Maddox thought Knightstalker was a *far* cooler name. The problem
was that people in Europe thought Americans were able to buy a different chess
program than what they were offered in Europe, and Americans saw the ads for
Fritz and thought the Euros were getting something different. So starting with
Fritz2, the name was standardized. Of course, then all the Knightstalker owners
wanted to know how to get Fritz1, and on and on and on...

Personally, I wish we'd stayed with Knightstalker as the name. The first time I
saw an ad for it (with that cool jungle cat logo) I didn't even own a PC but the
name made me want to run out and buy one just so I could try the program.
