I have in front of me an unopened package of Duracell AAAs. The Guarantee on the back of the package claims that they will repair or replace any device that is damaged due to a defect in their batteries, if you send them the device postage prepaid. I don't know how good they are at living up to this guarantee, particularly with such an expensive item, but it's worth a try. Check the back of a Duracell package for the guarantee and the address to send it to. It might be worth while to contact them before mailing off your computer and get some assurance.
