One of the things that disturbed me about Crafty several versions ago, is that
if I ran it against other Winboard engines (single computer games, sorry) that
Crafty would tend to leave pieces undeveloped, and this caused trouble later in
the game. Keep in mind that I'm not a strong Chess player, and _my_ opinion of
Crafty's developing pieces is not as relavant as a strong player's is, and while
personally I'll tend to try to develope as many pieces as posible before any
atacking happens, Crafty may actually be seeing an important reason for leaving
a Knight or Bishop on it's first rank.

Other programs, sometimes I think that Comet is a little bit too positional and
won't take out an unprotected pawn when it appears to me to be a free pawn. I
think Fritz programs are far too aggressive on the other hand, but they stand up
very well in tournaments.

In general, King protection is said to be a big problem with programs, this
doesn't make it possible for me to beat them though.

Pete
