Dann and Uri,

Here is what I think a Simple Chess Program should
include:

Simple to understand code (see TSCP)
Basic search algorithm optimized for speed (TSCP or modified TSCP)
Basic evaluation optimized for speed (modified TSCP)
Hash table support
Thinking on opponents time
Interface with winboard
Makefile for MS C++

That's it.

Just my two cents.  :)
