Yes this is right, but we have not many chess computer magazines. The user read the most about 10 programs and we have more programs. In the last time the user can read over amateur chess programs which are WinBoard compatible. The reason is that the a lot of this programs run under commercial chessprogs. And the WinBoard Engines which not run under this commercial chessprogs ? We can good see, that the magazines will "Want to sell". Yes this is right !!! >And who will buy them ? People who have either bought or are about to buy one of >the major commercial programs and therefor want to know about the performance of >their favourites . And the most people know 10 or a little more programs with the name. The people think that program x is the best program, because the chess magazin wrote about program x. But we have Ferret or Zarkov (the new Zarkov is strong) and the people say ... Ferret, what is this ? It is not important that the people can buy Ferret, it is important that the people know that we have good or better programs. >When talking about freeware you can download for free on the internet , where >will you find valuable information ? Seems logical to look for it in netland ( >your page currently being the best source IMO ). Yes, but I can at the moment not more make. In 2-3 years we have double more people which read CCC or other fora and look in the internet and see many interested pages and programs. >there are some obvious conclusions you can make if you accept this as basic >facts ; but you've probably figured this out a long time ago for yourself so >don't want to bore anyone. I think that an big computer tournament is more important that version 35 from commercal program A or B. When the chess magazines not makes good articles about this tournaments and wrote 20 pages more about program X I think that in 2-3 years the other top programmer can not buy the programs. The reason is not that we have many strong free chess programs, the reason is that the press write at the moment about program X or Y more than about A or B. Look the example, antoher ... AnMon win a game about Lautier (2636 ELO), longer time controls, in 31 move and where can the people read that ? Stand this in a computer chess magazine the people have interest and play with AnMon. And I must laugh when I see that the press wrote ... The Hiarcs tablebases :-)) (not Hiacrs tablesbases, Edwards or Nalimov tablebases) or ... Little Goliath Fritz/WinBoard Engine :-)) Little Goliath is kompatible to WinBoard and not an Fritz/WinBoard Engine ... We have 50 or more programs, free or not free which are compatible to WinBoard. Why the press make not a big report about the person Tim Mann ! Why the press make not a big report about the person Eugene Nalimov ! Why the press make not a big report about the person Prof. Dr. Robert Hyatt ! Why the press make not a big report about the person John Stanback Why the press make not a big report about the person Bruce Morland Why ? Why the press wrote not about important tournaments ! Why the press wrote not over the game from AnMon against Lautier ! Why I must read 10 pages about program X version 35 ! Why ? I think that the people buy the popular programs without to read 10 pages or more over this programs. I think that the people will read more information about the hobby computerchess. Information about other important persons or projects. Kind regards Frank
