If an owner of Shredder wishes to test Shredder against any other program, he or she can do so. The owners of Shredder cannot legally stop you, at least not in the United States. There is a legal concept known as "Fair Use". Playing Shredder against other programs so as to test its strength against other programs in a private setting, not to make commercial use of the program, is a legitimate fair use. I think I will buy shredder and test it against my other programs ( Fritz, Chessmaster, Hiarcs). If I do find the time, I shall post the results here.
