I remember that GM Lev Alburt lost a game to a player rated less than 2000 USCF in a U.S. open, the game was featured many years ago in Chess Life with comments by both players. I have never drawn a grandmaster, but I have seen some draws between grandmasters and players with a mexican rating just over 2000. José.
