I'm the creator of the engine in the Othello program WZebra and I'm curious about how you obtained the figure 35%. Did you actually test it on a Coppermine processor? I did some back-of the envelope estimates recently and came up with 0% in the midgame and 5% in the endgame without any changes to the code, probably up to 10%, at least in the midgame, if the Coppermine provides lots of registers (> 32 would be nice). (I'm a bit confused here, is the Coppermine the same thing as the Merced/Itanium?) / Gunnar
