Thanks for this reference, now I see the light :) I still find it hard to believe that a speedup of 35% would follow for WZebra (or indeed for most programs I can think of). Programs using a lot of tables gain the most, so it depends on how the move generation and static evaluation were designed. WZebra would only benefit in the static evaluation. / Gunnar
