Celeron processors are very inexpensive now and are quite fast. A Celeron 466 or 500 is a fine choice. I recently needed a couple light-duty database servers at work and got sub-$1000 Celeron 466 boxes, which I've had no complaints about. IMO it is hard to justify going with a Pentium III unless you really need the high-end 600 Mhz or up models. AMD K-6/2 is also quite reliable and very cheap. AMD K-6/3 I have no experience with, but I hear good things about it. --Jon
