The purpose of a demo is to enable people to try out a program before they have
to buy it.  Someone who is interested but not sure if they want to plunk their
money down can check it out, start liking it, and decide they want to buy it.
Or conversely (though I think this happens less) they may decide that it's not
the product for them.

It is certainly _not_ the case that the purpose of a demo is to allow people to
rip out parts of its compiled code and use those parts in different
applications.  So no, I don't understand how you feel.  I just understand that I
feel bad that I brought up Eidos in the first place.  Like the people who worked
to make Fritz 6, I write software too, and having people steal your work is a
pretty bad feeling.
