There have been many private tournaments including Crafty and strong commercial
programs, and results have been published here and in other places.
So far, Crafty has never done well in those tournaments.
Why don't you play a lot yourself to be sure?
Are the strong commercial programs playing on ICC? Can you compare ICC ratings?
I don't deny Crafty has good results on ICC, but if no commercial programmer
tries to have a high ranking on ICC, you cannot compare.
So the only thing you can do is let Crafty play directly against strong programs
and see what happens.
For example you can see some tournament results, some are including Crafty, at
Shep's site:
http://come.to/sccs
The most recent tournament including Crafty (v16.6) has been played in May 99
(Tournament XIX). Crafty finished at the lowest ranking.
See also Tournament XVI. And also Tournament XV. And also Tournament XIII.
