My guess is that Eidos wanted to have a demo. On the other side if Fritz is going to be distributed in shops (as I have suggested many times) it might sell so many copies that the number of computer chess fans that have Junior, Hiarcs Nizmo and friends will become irrelevant respect to number of Fritz copies sold. (Just think to the number scored by ChessMaster). The question is: after they have sold, say, some 100.000 copies or more of Fritz 6, will they have any interest in developing a new Junior 7, and a new Hiarcs... to sell say few 1.000 copeis of each? Or will they invest the time required to develop Fritz 7 with a new 3D board or something funny in it? regards Franz
