A kid with Downs' Syndrome is not stupid. As Forest Gump would say "Stupid is, as stupid does". The chess programs are dependant on very clever algorithms that are devised by the imperfect minds of very bright people. With the limited tools that we have now it is the best that can be expected. Of course, if there were no people like you then there would be no progression of scientific endeavor and we would still be living in caves. It is frustrating to see a computer take so long to solve an obvious problem but a computer is just a very primitive tool compared to the brains that conceived it. Most of my neurologist and neurosurgeon friends agree with me. Happy Holidays, Tim Frohlick
