Well, I guess by now you're sorry that you ever said anything. Kind of a shame that so many people are so quick to strike down an idea, even if they are halfway polite about it... Anyway, I think your opinion of today's FPGAs is a little high. I just checked the Xilinx page and they are advertising FPGAs that can replace 25,000 gate ASICs. A Deep Blue chip has 150,000 gates.
