Another side of this tricky issue: problem solving is so complex and diverse as problems are. Some requires sheer calculation, some requires a sense of space relation ships, some need sycho insight and even there are some where the inteligent act -like the problem of washing the shirt- is to understandt that inteligent calculation is out of place. A man trying to "calculate" where the dirty spots are is not a very intelligent guy. Each kind of problem is related to a different kind of intelligence and probably what old people just call "wisdom" has to do about knowing what kind fits to specific kind of situation. There is a chinese saying, I think from the Tao: "The greatest intelligence seems to greatest stupidity" Sometimes it is so. Fernando
