There are 12 unique movements in chess represent by the 6 piece types.
The interaction of these 12 movements is what gives chess its complexity.
Movement is a function of: Type(4) and Magnitude(8)
Type: Capture/NonCapture
NonCapture Only
Capture Only
Pawn Promotion
Magnitude: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7
The King(K) and Knight(N) are listed the least - 2 times.
The Rook(R) is listed the most - 10 times.
Only the Pawn(P) has a 'Capture Only' characteristic.
The King(K) and Pawn(P) are limited to a Magnitude of 1 and a one time Magnitude
of 2.
The Knight(N) has a fixed Magnitude of 2.
Only Magnitude 2 contains all 6 piece types.
The Queen(Q) encompasses the movements of the King(K), Rook(R), and Bishop(B) on
Magnitude 1 and the Rook(R) and Bishop(B) on Magnitudes 2 through 7.
