At least the price seems reasonable.  (check out their website).

I remember when databases (like chess base) used to cost an arm and a leg... it
was something like $500 for the regular package and $750 for the mega package or
something like that.  But chess base also lowered their prices, although not as
low as chess assistant.

Another thing that I noticed about websites that offer databases is that the
games offered are normally in PGN, and a few others in CB format.  Considering
that CA can also read the CB format, then CA doesn't sound like such a bad deal.

However, I have to ask myself the same question as before:  Do I really need a
database?  Does the class player really need it?
