Many years ago, at the University of Southern Mississippi, there were three of us in the chess club that were capable of winning our monthly tournaments. Bert Gower and Myself were two, and a near- master (I'll leave his name out to protect the abused). We started a tournament, and had an odd number, so Bert suggested we use his SuperConstellation machine to avoid the bye problem. Everyone agreed. We were all three doing fine, until our last game each, which was against the SuperCon. Larry played the thing and lost. Bert and I used it all the time against Cray Blitz for tuning, and we had found an easy-to-force way to win a piece. We both played this same line, and we both won. :) I ended up winning the tournament, Bert ended up second, and Larry ended up pissed. :) (yes, we eventually told him. No money was at stake.. :) )
