GNUchess interface will let you set it down to a search depth of 2, it can still
play a tough game at that level, but you can beat it probably a fair amount of
time that way.

I don't personally run Chess programs during downloads.

You might like Bringer, nice Windows interface
http://www.online.de/home/reubold/   and has good adjustments.

The Dos version of Comet can be set for very (relative) easy playing levels,
setting it at level "0" for example will probably give you a good fighting
chance, Comet can be found at Gambitsoft or Frank Quisinsky's download page.
The average Windows user might have trouble useing Comet, it has no conveient
pulldown menus, but it is one of my overall favorite programs.
