Subject: CM 6/7000 - How does it find the mates so quickly?

I have, like many, noticed that CM/The King has a phenomental ability to find
mates. IMO, and I don't want to debate it, better than any other program (we'll
have to see what Tiger is like). Take for example the following position:

r5r1/n1q1p2k/3pPpp1/P1pP4/2P4N/R1B5/2Q3PP/7K w - - 0 1 bm Bd2

CM 6000 plays Bd2 and announces mate in 10 after 3 secs on my 450 MHz P2! (Bxf6
is also good). Fritz 6 on the other hand takes 17 secs to choose Bd2 and well
over 4 minutes to announce mate. Fritz is not alone, other programs also take
quite a while. (BTW I'd be interested to see what Tiger does in this position)

Now it would seem that CM is doing something that others are not. Does anyone
have any idea what extensions are at play here?

Regards
