Subject: Some chess stuff [Crafty versions and NOTABLY Chest]

Author: Dann Corbit

I have Crafty 17.5 at my ftp site now. Pretty old news, since 17.5 has been
available at Dr. Hyatt's site for quite a while. But I do offer longer path
names and huge workspace for PGN opening books, so maybe you want it anyway. I
also have new Alpha NT versions and we have Solaris also (under
binaries/solaris).

Also, there is Chest by
  Heiner Marxen
  Holger Pause
  Thomas Rakovsky

For those of you who are not familiar with it, Chest is a chess problem solver.
It has the following unique features:

1. Reads *AND* writes STANDARD EPD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, the real one -- you know the one that S.J.E. wrote about in his document?
Not some pseudo EPD-like goo, but the real thing.

2. Solves many different kind of chess problems (the readme docs will describe
them all)

3. It's fast as the burning blue blazes. I mean, WOW fast. There are some
other problem solvers you can pick up here and there. CHEST blows their doors
off and takes no names.

4. It's open source!! Not only that, but source you would *WANT* to read. I
mean, this is a good mate solver with all kinds of beautiful symmetry.

Have fun storming the castle boys.
