SPEC for AMD Athlon 750 = 33 SPEC for PII266 = 10.7 (SE440BX motherboard) Expected increase = 3.1 (less if you have a faster MB on the 266) SPEC ref: http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu95/results/cint95.html So this looks pretty close to what I would expect your NPS increase to be (you are getting 87% or more of the expected increase). Possible difference could be a newer (faster) MB in the 266 than was tested with SPEC. Also, check your system to be sure that the Chess program is getting the max processor time (ie, something is not eating resources, I have to optimize my OS when I get a new machine). :) Even if you got the max 3.1 increase, you would expect 784KNPS on your new system (253KNPS x 3.1). Not bad. I would not be surprised if others report more or less KNPS for the new Athlon, just because of slight differences in MB and system configurations. Did I make this as clear as mud? Sorry. Hope my math is right. :) Best Regards, Chris Carson
