  We can never be sure how many will buy it, but there is nothing that a
programmer would lose in providing a freeware version.

  A light version is not the current version. The light version could be a
weaker version and devoid of features that strengthen the program such as use of
tablebases or opening books or anything else that the programmer sees fit. It
could have the same interface and have no limitations such as the 8000 game in
CB Light, or the 26 moves in Frizt 6 Demo.
