For me it is the second main cause of computer problems Exactly. :) Always check the cooling systems. I had exactly the same problem with my computer last year, but it took me forever to figure out what it was, because it was not making any kind of smell. After I figured out the problem and replaced the CPU fan, everything worked perfectly. >(the first cause being Windows). Have you tried NT yet? It really is _much_ better than 9x.
