I personally would add weight behind question 6, and partly 5 and 2 also.
these are very important questions for me, since I feel my time has come to
settle for one good program and think more about my own playing. the
problem was that I never felt that any one program so far represented a
balanced authorititive approach to top class chess. But I think that that day is
now approaching-as soon as one program comes out with a slight edge over
others, I think that will already qualify i.e. just like genius 3 was
slightly above all others for quite a time, todays equivalent will I
think be out of necesity-be a producer of many long term tactical
masterpeices, and be somewhat accurate at finding best plans-even long-term
plans-in many cases, both of the above were not quite acheived yet. I mean
not by hiarcs or fritz of 1999.
I am still waiting to hear more about if shredder 4, rebel century,
tiger 12, or junior 6, have reached it.I'm also waiting for a hiarcs 8.0
[has anyone heard anything yet?], then I'll see if any one is above all
others, and get that one.
If not I'll try and get a narrow combination which gives everything-
and stay with that. I can't wait yet another year. But if one program
was best against humans and machines alike-I think It will be tutorially
best also.If this dream program[which might be out now-I havn't studied
them yet]Is also feature-rich, all the better.
I think my interest is similar to that of Charles.
Does anyone have any answers?
