That's why I think in the US, the proposed playoff for college football is stupid. Making those kids play a bunch more games does not really show which team is best anyway. Having a bunch of separate bowls lets half of the teams end the season as winners. Anyway, a 'world champion' racer just ran fastest on that day. In physical athletics, at least we can measure an exact performance in seconds or inches. In chess it is far more ethereal who really is best. But it makes for some interesting discussions.
