I mean that WHEN a program comes out can never lose more than 50% (of course making sure that computers stay optimized for both programs)after 4-8 games against todays best, then we will have the almost authoritative program. It might need to be up to 150 extra elo points above the rest. maybe a bit less. A person can get tired, but a machine ought to be more consistent once the programming has reached its target. But the bugs and weaknesses have to be corrected. Or are you saying it's not possible to strengthen a program in one area without weakening it in another? i.e. there's no absolute in chess? and Kasparovs greatness comes from studiyng his opponents?
