Thanks for your reply Howard. I agree with you completely. It seems to me that FIDE should be glad to furnish a list of the persons who were awarded GM titles for the last two or three years, and perhaps even for the decade. Even if we did not have their rating at the time it was awarded, we could look at the FIDE grandmaster rating list for today. I would much rather have their rating at the time of the award, but if that is not available their rating surely would not have gone down on the average for incoming GMs. It would more likely have risen slightly on the average. You mentioned Mr. Sloan. What is the best way to make contact with him? I tried to contact FIDE today through the internet but could get no response from their URL. Maybe they were off for the holiday.
