Unlike some people, I am not easily able to visualize a position from the following type of notation: 2k4r/ppp2Qpp/8/q1b1p1P1/1r2Bn1P/1P1P4/P1P2P2/2KR2NR w - - 0 18 Has anyone written a utility to convert this type of notation to a human readable format something like the following? - = k = - = - r p p p - = Q p p - = - = - = - = q - b - p - P - - r - = B n - P = P = P = - = - P = P = - P - = = - K R = - N R If so, it would be nice to be able to read a message here at CCC and instantly be able to start analyzing the position in your head. In other words, it would be nice to be able to read the message here at CCC without having to convert the position either manually or with a chess program or utility (it's kind of like having to decode a message before reading it, argggghhh!). If the poster took the time out to convert the position once during the creation of a message, then his hundreds or thousands of readers would not have to convert it hundreds or thousands of times. If someone has such a utility, maybe Steve would be willing to place it onto one of the pages as downloadable software. Or maybe someone has a Java version of it where Steve could have a link to a web page where it would make it easier for posters (and readers) to convert positions in this notation. KarinsDad :)
