New Chessmaster 7000 patch (an updated version of 1.0.6) TLC tech support informed me via email this morning (1/3/00) that the cm7k106.exe patch at www.chessmaster.com has now been updated to work properly on Windows 95 machines. The 'SHELL32DLL:SHGetSpecialFolderPathA' error message problem has presumably been fixed, however I can't test it anymore because I have uninstalled CM7000 and do not plan to reinstall it on my old Windows 95 machine. I note that there is no mention of this update at the Chessmaster site, and by all outward appearances it is identical to the former patch (same size and version number), but I confirmed with a file comparison utility that it is indeed non-identical to the former patch. --JRM a.k.a.
