ChessBits reprinted verbatim half of an article (introduction, chess commentary and all) by Dr Nunn without his permission or the permission of the Vögel-Verlag (publishers of CSS). The second half was announced for the subsequent issue. The Vögel-Verlag, publishers of CSS, have paid Dr. Nunn for the unauthorised reproduction of his article in ChessBits, since they are responsible for protecting his rights. They seek reimbursement from ChessBits. The editors of CSS have spent many hours over the past months in an effort to avert legal proceedings, which would cost many thousands of marks, vs. a few hundred for the author of the article. We will continue our efforts.
