I'm probably as close as you can get to Chessmaster's target Market Audience on this board full of Knowledgable Chess programmers and Chess Computer Enthuisists who run winboard tournaments.. My first chess program was Chessmaster3000 and I have always supported Chessmaster. I know no programming, and barely got winboard to work untill recently..I'm no Chess beginner just learning the game however,I'm about average 1600+ I guess And I agree with you Auto232 is not a priority for me..It's fun to test chess programs (hmm..by admitting this, do I no loner qualify for the massmarket?) but just work on having a better interface and Engine!!(Engine(Go King!) is important, the better the engine the better analysis that you can have..) The sparring Option that Fritz and other programs have where the program makes tactical mistakes on purpose is something you should consider as well.. AVIs well.. I kinda enjoy the Josh game.. commentry , except for the parts where he gives advice such as "Never give up in ...etc" or tells a story about some road accident he witness while walking down the street..as some sort of analogy..But I do enjoy when he sticks to pure Chess analysis.. BTW the "spoken analysis" by chessmaster is a waste of time..It's just a more wordy version of the normal analysis except that you get Chess master who syas "King to Bishop two, Knight to Rook three etc.." instead of "Kd2,Nh3" and the last part where you are told "by doing so, you improve your king position by a little and Black gains slightly more center control.." It's to general to be useful..
