Although I am and have clearly advocated that IMHO average rated humans can and
do beat chess software. I can't believe that a 1700 rating can destroy GNU,
for 25 straight games between 3 - 20 minutes. I had read that GNU was around
2200 somewhere not sure exactly where.

I was going to post this but wanted to try playing it myself first. Two years
ago OTB i had a rating in excess of 2100 I just played GNU one game of 3 minutes
result I lost a rook and 4 pawn ending on time.

Wasn't exactly anti-computer play on my part. So if you are destroying it every
game maybe something is wrong unless in those games you have been playing anti
computer style. Ohhh BTW the computer it was running on was a P166 mmx.
