I didn't see any reason to turn this into a violent arms race by trying to line up a 16-cpu alpha machine. I think we will see 1ghz machines (at least one) in this event, since they are now available. That kind of hardware will probably be a bit faster than my quad xeon. Bruce's machine is a quad 450, so he and I are close in terms of hardware and we won't have a substantial advantage over everyone (over some, probably, but not everyone). It ought to be fun...
